"Asperger's Syndrome" and Oppression
A condescending list of "famous people with Asperger's Syndrome!" often graces the pages of autism websites: Beethoven, Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, Napoleon Bonaparte, George Washington, Thomas Jeffferson, Andrew Jackson, Alexander the Great, Adam Smith, Leonardo DaVinci, Socrates, Bill Gates, Shakespeare, Goethe, Hans Christian Andersen, Alfred Hitchcock, Jane Austen, Charles Darwin, Charles Schulz, Steven Spielberg, Ayn Rand, Jim Henson, Thomas Edison, Mozart, Michael Jackson, Mark Twain, Henry Ford.........and George Orwell.
Some common attributes of this "syndrome" are:
*Insistence on rationality and non-contradiction
*A "strong" moral code
*Lack of interest in socialization
*Indifference to peer pressure
*Questioning authority
*Intense interest in a certain subject
*Individualistic behavior and outlook
*Intolerance of social hierarchies and/or certain social norms
*Poor "nonverbal communication"
*Little or no intuitive empathy of others' thoughts
*"Odd" movements
*Poor athletic ability
*"Over" irritation because of change or different routine
*Intolerance of imperfection
*"Exceptional" memory
*No interest in sexuality for the sake of sexuality
*"Deep" concern about issues
*"Strong" emotions
If this set of characteristics amounts to a "syndrome", and it is intelligent and important people like those listed above who are said to "suffer" from it, then what kind of world are we now living in?
Individualism, morality, resistance to peer pressure, intolerance of injustice and concern about life's issues are responsible traits, not traits of those with any kind of syndrome, nor with any unusual-but-positive gift, like genius. The other traits (distress at change, intense absorptions in certain subjects, and lack of interest in socialization) are not traits of those who have a specific syndrome, but are responses which naturally occur in any normal, intelligent person who is caught in a world that punishes rationality, kills purpose and enjoyment, and stifles morality. This is why "so many kids are now being diagnosed with Asperger's."
Instead of being responsible, and using their brains to determine the various reasons certain people behave the way they do in certain situations, modern scientists take the easy way out, and write off any behavior they consider undesirable -- whatever context it was in -- as caused by a "syndrome." Because most behavior (undesirable or not) cannot be attributed to a syndrome, there is much overdiagnosis.
When looking at the list of famous people with "Asperger's Syndrome," notice many of them (most, rather) are of an American, Western, rational, or individualist bent: Adam Smith, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Andrew Jackson, Charles Darwin, Mark Twain, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Bill Gates, and, of course, George Orwell.
This is because "Asperger's Syndrome" is not a syndrome, but a label used by government and school scientists to marginalize people whose politics they don't like, including people with positive qualities most people possess to some extent. Those who develop the qualities further than the scientists would like (or who refuse to give those qualities up) are labeled "Aspies," depending on the extent to which the individual displays a quality, usually arbitrarily or subjectively chosen.
Qualities are things such as consistency, reason, individualism, purpose, and morality, which supporters of any and all oppression are bent on destroying. Just how rational or individualistic a person must be before being labeled Asperger's depends on where the particular authority conducting the diagnosis happens to draw the line. It is often drawn where it is for purely personal reasons, because of the biases and beliefs of the psychologist or examiner.
The qualities which are considered "desirable" by these scientists and psychologists are typically either modernist or European qualities: "open" sexuality, rejection of morals and objective morality, communalism and/or communism, blind obedience to government, adherence to meaningless or arbitrary cultural norms, subjectivism in science and in ethics, shallow socialization, and lackadaisical disinterest in life.
Of course, people who "seem" to be questioning authority or society, but are really not, are often mistaken for having done so, and are unfortunately diagnosed, which heightens the percentage of "Aspies." This is all part of the irrationality that goes with our society's lack of interest in thought, reality, and in acknowledging facts, especially in the psychological and psychiatric institutions.
It used to be said that the average person fought fair; they denounced their opponent's beliefs or motives openly and honestly. This gentlemanly trend is over. So-called "professional" people now substitute psychiatry for philosophy, diagnosis for disagreement, and prejudices for pondering. Today, political or cultural bullies label their enemy (an opponent of overarching government or social apathy) as mentally challenged, or, worse, "special." This is viciously insulting to people who choose to retain the important natural qualities and abilities we all are born with, including reason, morality, and ability to think deeply and logically -- the qualities that made this society possible.
If we refuse to fight an enemy on a certain battlefield because the battlefield is unusual, we will surely lose. The battlefield on which the fight against dangerous government and societal oppression takes place is the battlefield of psychology. Because psychology is such an unexpected realm to push their oppressive agenda in, the agenda goes unnoticed by the vast majority of people.
This is the point. They want it to go unnoticed.
A parent who would never let a teacher show her child objectionable political videos would think nothing if her child were diagnosed with a syndrome instead. She is oblivious to the fact that the diagnosis wields just as much damage as does the video. This is how the anti-freedom agenda is spread; by encouraging her to kill, in her child, those very qualities which could fight that agenda.
While many professionals and politicians sincerely believe "Asperger's" qualities are undesirable, and while some are not consciously advocating a One World Government or other oppressive policies, those who do know better manipulate honest psychologists to serve their purposes. Some honest psychologists are also unconsciously but inevitably leading us down the road to oppression, and they operate in such a field as psychology because their biases are deeply internalized. However, there are definitely people who know exactly what us going on.
This battle has narrowed us down to two strategies: educate others and fight back, or allow the government to squash intelligence in children......and disobedience in adults.
Please use this website to educate yourself about this very important issue, which may be a key issue determining if our society will recover and grow strong again. When intelligent people stand up and refuse to let people call them "diseased", "different", or even "special", then our world will start changing for the better.
